On Saturday, August 29, students and parents attended "Stop The Violence" concert and panel discussion event- hosted by the Nation of Islam; HBCU (Historically Black Colleges Universities) alums Theresa McKinley and Samariah Smith; Hip Hop Detoxx founder Enoch Muhammad, and Nation of Islam student minister Ishmael Muhammad.
The panel discussion was moderated by CNN contributor and radio host Warren Ballentine, as well as Chicago radio icon Tony Schofield.
A notable panelist was Illinois congressman Danny K. Davis (D-IL).
Vendors included artists like Tiara Muhammad, and singers like Sylvia Fedrick- who gave their thoughts about education. Yet, a masculine perspective on the school system came from Phenom, a member of the Hip Hop Detoxx Organization.
